PORTAL OF THE NOW illuminates boundary conditions; the intangible moment between past and future, the gradient between light and darkness, the dynamics between silence and noise. In these boundary conditions lies the now, the dusk, and the music. The installation illustrates these areas of tension through razor-sharp laser, ambient LED-lighting, smoke, and pulsating movements in both light and sound. The light is backed up by a soundtrack that harmoniously blends the lighting and the audience with the harbor area. Through spacious and crackling electronic sound design, the installation’s exploration of contrast and boundary conditions is underlined. GoBoat’s beautiful glass building at the harbor front is the center of the piece, from where the sound and light flows out into the harbor area. With lots of corona friendly space, the location and design of the piece open up to a unified experience in a time where the pandemic challenges the cultural coherence.
