Pergola
2023
The piece consists of 10 gates set in a row to form an organic, illuminated pergola. From afar, the work seems as a uniform surface of animated light, but as spectators approach, the individual gates stretch out and form an airy pathway that combines the peaceful animations of the pergola with the textures and colors of the surroundings. The installation is accompanied by a sound piece that accentuates the surroundings and, for a little moment, pulls the spectator away from the frenzied pulse of the city and envelops them in a soothing plurality of light and sound.
The 10 gates are held by metal plates on either side of the path. In addition, several wires help to keep the work in place even in violent windy weather. At the same time, this prevents passers-by from pulling the work apart. The plant has a maximum power consumption of 2kW. There must be access to at least a 16A CEE plug, but preferably a 32A CEE to be on the safe side. The plant is expected to use a maximum of 2kWh per day. In order to meet the climate and the high energy prices, a supplementary solar cell system of 500W can be temporarily set up near the plant. With this effect, the plant will be able to generate 80-90% of the plant's total energy consumption on a good sunny day. For storing the control computer, spare parts, etc. a closed room must be used near the plant.
